How much does it cost?

Absolutely nothing! Community Info websites are free!

We charge local businesses for advertising which enables us to provide the community websites to you for free. No trials, no memberships - you will never have to pay for your community website!

Not only is the website free, but support is also provided at no cost! In fact, Ci websites are so easy to use, you don't have to pay a web designer to make updates, therefore you'd actually save money by starting a Ci website!

How do I join my community website? (joining an existing community)

It takes less than 1 minute to join your neighbours.

All you have to do is find your community on the home page map. If there is an existing "Ci" pin on your community, it means your community already has a Community Info website. In that case, all you have to do is click on the pin and you will be brought to your community site, where you can start talking with your neighbours. That's it! From now on, you can go directly to your community's website URL.

If your community is NOT on the map, click on the "Create Community" tab on the top of the home page map, enter your community name, city/town, and select your province/state. You will then instantly create your very own community website.

*Please note that it's important to check the map to see if your community already exists prior to creating a new community to avoid duplicates.

What if my Community doesn't exist on the home page map? (creating a new community)

If your community is NOT on the map, click on the "Create Community" tab on the top of the home page map, enter your community name, city/town, and select your province/state. You will then instantly create your very own community website.

*Please note that it's important to check the map to see if your community already exists prior to creating a new community to avoid duplicates.

Do I have to be a web designer to run a CommunityInfo website?

Not at all! Community Info sites are extremely easy to use. If you can send an email, you can run your community website!

If at any time you need help, you can visit our How-to Guide, or contact us and we will do what we can to make your life easier.

What makes CommunityInfo different than other community websites?

Community Info offers the same features of expensive competitor websites, if not more! What sets us apart is that we offer a full featured website at no cost. Why pay thousands of dollars for a website that doesn't offer half of the features that a Ci site does?

View a list of our features.

What does the "Favourite This" icon do?

The Favourite This icon allows you to easily follow discussions and events. You will find all of the items you favourite easily accessible in your main profile page. Those items will also have a red heart to help them stand out.

Why are some Comments icons pink?

If you participate in a discussion (you posted it or replied) the comment icon will change to pink to help conversations you've been a part of stand out.

Can I advertise to my community? What about surrounding communities?

Absolutely! The great thing about Community Info is that you can advertise directly to your target market. Not only can you advertise to surrounding communities, but you can also specify exactly which ones you want to target to get the best bang for your buck.

To advertise, you can select the type of banner add and communities you wish to target directly in your admin account in Community's website. Or you can contact us directly and we'll help you get started.

Is there a trial I can test?

Because Community Info is free, there is no need for a trial! You can setup your own website in less than 5 minutes and work on it directly. If you don't like what you see, you can delete your account at any time.

If you wish to preview some of our features, you may also check out our demo community or select one of the existing community sites on the home page map.

Why have a Community Info Website?

The point of a Community Info website is to provide one central place for everyone in your community to connect.

  • Post your concerns about construction in the discussions and let others provide their opinions or answers with comments.
  • Show off the beauty of your town by posting images in the gallery
  • Let everyone in your neighbourhood about upcoming events, and give a reason for prospective visitors to stop by your community to participate
  • Sell or buy items in the classifieds, without having to drive hours to do so, or without having to sift through thousands of items before finding one near your town.
  • Find the nearest hair stylist or daycare in the local business listings.

What is a Mini-Site?

A mini-site is a free website that is integrated into the Community website and can be accessed or requested from the Local services tab.

To reduce the chance of having everyone attempting to create a mini-site and cluttering up the site, the following is a list of approved groups in the community that can and should take full advantage of the mini-sites.  If you are a non profit organization that offers services to enhance the lives of the members in the community and you don't fall into one of the following categorize please contact us and we will update this list.

  • Curling Clubs
  • Community Clubs
  • Churches
  • Schools
  • Youth Groups
  • Parks
  • Libraries
  • Hospitals
  • Senior Services
  • Volunteer Organizations
  • Community Halls
  • Municipalities

From the request a mini-site page, you can either create a new website using the powerful Community Info framework for your group/organization or you can link the mini-site to an already existing website URL.  If you link to an existing site, your website can now be accessed within the community website allowing the members of the community to easily find your existing website.

If you choose to take advantage of the Ci framework to build yourself a free website, you will have the following screens created as the starting template.  The mini-site can then be fully modified to suit your needs.

  • About Us
  • informational page
  • Contact us
  • Board of Members
  • Meeting Minutes
  • Location
  • Our Facility
  • Newsletter - Anything added here will display on the home page to share with the whole community with a link to your mini-site
  • Events - Anything added here will display on the home page to share with the whole community with a link to your mini-site
  • Images - These will only be seen from the mini-site
  • Activities/Sports

The framework will handle multiple subpages so you can break down one page to have multiple subpages.  An example of this would be to have a Sports page and then you can break it down and list all sports that your community offers as subpages.

See the How-To-Guide for creating a mini-site for a complete step-by-step.

What is a Ci-Site for Businesses?

Ci-Sites are fully featured, integrated websites for businesses. They are basically like any other custom website, however what sets them apart is the integration to CommunityInfo. When you post an event it automatially gets posted in your community site as well and your website link is added to the main menu, potentially bringing you thousands of visitors instantly.

Can I link my existing website to a Ci site?

We understand that you may have a website already created and might not be interested in creating a new mini-site. For this reason, we have an option that allows you to link the mini-site to your existing website. This way when the mini-site is clicked the user will be redirected to your already created website.

This will definitely increase the amount of traffic to your existing site plus you will be able to take advantage of the rest of the Community Info toolset, by creating events, newsletter entries, announcements and linking your site to multiple communities if applicable.
